GST Calculator

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a consumption tax added to the price of goods and services. This GST calculator works in both directions: add GST to a net price (tax-exclusive) or extract GST from a gross price (tax-inclusive).

How to use the GST Calculator

  1. Enter the amount and choose tax-exclusive or tax-inclusive.
  2. Pick the GST rate (5%, 12%, 18%, 28% or a custom rate).
  3. Choose intra-state (CGST+SGST) or inter-state (IGST) and read the result. Copy or download as PDF.

How it works

Formulas: GST amount = Net × Rate ÷ 100; Gross = Net + GST. To remove GST from an inclusive price: Net = Gross ÷ (1 + Rate ÷ 100). For intra-state supply, GST splits equally into CGST and SGST; for inter-state supply the full amount is IGST.

Worked example

A price of 10,000 at 18% GST: GST = 10,000 × 18 ÷ 100 = 1,800, so the total is 11,800 (900 CGST + 900 SGST intra-state).

Good to know

Use it for invoices, price lists and quick checks. Rates vary by item and country, so confirm the applicable rate with official notifications.

Frequently asked questions

GST = 10,000 × 18 ÷ 100 = 1,800, so the total is 11,800. Intra-state, that is 900 CGST + 900 SGST.

Divide the gross price by 1 + rate. For 11,800 at 18%: 11,800 ÷ 1.18 = 10,000 net, GST 1,800.
